Jennifer Wu is taking on the role, joining JP Morgan from BlackRock, where she was a member of its sustainable investing team.
In her new position she will lead JP Morgan’s Sustainable Investing Leadership Team (SILT), a global team of senior leaders focused on sharing best practices for sustainable investing across asset classes.
Ms Wu will be based in London.
“JP Morgan has been integrating ESG factors across our investment teams globally and will continue to build capabilities to meet increasing client demand for sustainable investing,” Shari Schiffman, co-head of Global Product Strategy at JP Morgan said.
“We believe that Jennifer will build on our strong results and establish JP Morgan as a global leader in sustainable investing through continued ESG integration and the development of new, innovative strategies.”
Christopher Willcox, CEO of JP Morgan Asset said the company was aware of how ESG factors can impact security valuations and enhance risk adjusted return potential.
“We look forward to working with Jennifer on a broader sustainable investing platform,” he said.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2014, Ms Wu worked for the Asian Development Bank in the energy sector of the Central and West Asia Department and was responsible for infrastructure project finance and energy sector reform.
Jennifer started her career in venture capital and private equity, focusing on equity investments in technology and renewable energy in Asia as a research analyst and subsequently a portfolio manager.
JP Morgan Asset Management added that ESG factors have been integrated into the firm’s acquisitions and asset management processes to mitigate risk and add value, with two of its real estate strategies being ranked number one by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) last year.
JP Morgan Asset Management has also been recognized by the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) for its approach to ESG Integration across its equities, fixed income, and alternatives businesses, receiving its strongest scores to date in 2018.
