Penny Bingham-Hall joins former NSW premier Bob Carr on the Crescent Foundation board. The foundation supports refugee education, helps the homeless and promotes the conservation of Islamic art and culture.
Ms Bingham-Hall is a director on several other boards including Fortescue Metals Group, Macquarie Specialised Asset Management and DEXUS Property group.
She replaces Hisham El-Ansary, who was recently appointed chief executive of BUPA Australia & New Zealand.
Ms Bingham-Hall said she was delighted to be joining the board given the foundation’s continued work assisting refugees and migrants from a range of backgrounds and its quality of leadership and directors.
“I have a diverse background and as a director I like companies that do things, build things and are very much focused on the community and those they serve. The Crescent Foundation is all of these things and more,” Ms Bingham-Hall said.
“At its heart, the foundation is all about helping refugees and asylum seekers find new homes and places to grow where their diversity will be respected. It is also committed to helping homeless and destitute Australians to break cycles of disadvantage and support themselves. This is critical and important work.”
