Alison Wallis is taking the Sydney-based role and will be responsible for business development and servicing the institutional market in Australia.
She will report to Alex Zaika, managing director of Australia.
GAM said the hiring would further enhance its local support and deepen relationships with its Australian clients.
The company reported growth in interest from Australian superannuation funds in its differentiated product offering, including its systematic alternative risk premia and insurance linked securities offerings.
Ms Wallis joined GAM from Brookvine, where she was a director for six years, servicing institutional investors.
Prior to that, she was a client manager at Deutsche Bank, where she managed strategic relationships with clients and prospects for the firm’s fixed income and equity products.
She began her career at Morningstar, initially on the graduate training program, before becoming an analyst on the fund research team, where she covered all asset classes.
“Alison has an excellent reputation in the Australian market and brings a wealth of knowledge across asset classes,” Mr Zaika said.
“She will be a valuable addition to our team as we continue to expand our local offering for Australian clients and provide them with differentiated investment solutions.”
