BTIG Australia has appointed a new chief executive, who was previously global head of portfolio trading and beta solutions at UBS.

Andrew Dalgleish has joined the firm and will be based in the company’s Sydney office.

He is reported to have spent more than 20 years helping lead financial services institutions across the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa.

The company has said Mr Dalgleish will be working to strengthen its local offering, with his mandate including building out BTIG’s product suite across equities, equity derivatives, convertible bonds and global portfolio and ETF trading.

He will also work with the firm’s electronic trading unit to bring advanced algorithmic trading capabilities to clients.

Craig Reilly, chief executive, BTIG Asia Pacific said that the company is confident Mr Dalgleish will build upon its momentum in Sydney.

“As a seasoned leader, we anticipate that he will be a tremendous asset to our team and clients,” Mr Reilly said.

“We believe Andrew will help us to further increase our brand recognition in the marketplace and drive future growth.”

Before being head of portfolio trading and beta solutions, Mr Dalgleish was head of institutional client solutions and head of institutional funds group at UBS in Sydney, where he supported the needs of institutional clients across cash execution, prime brokerage, swaps and derivatives.

Richard Jacklin, managing director and head of international equities and head of client relationship management said BTIG expects Mr Dalgleish to have a significant impact on the institutional business, given his experience and client relationships globally.

“In addition, his understanding of the Australian market enables him to meaningfully enhance our local coverage and offering in the region,” he said.

“We plan to leverage his expertise to accelerate growth in Australia and throughout our products worldwide.”
