Mr Chowdry has more than 35 years experience in leadership and senior executive roles in professional services. He is currently partner and national leader of Minter Ellison consulting’s financial services, risk and regulatory practice in Australia.
He is also a member of the RBA’s audit committee.
“Rahoul’s leadership and financial, audit and risk management expertise will further strengthen the knowledge and experience on the AMP board,” said AMP Chairman David Murray.
“He will bring valuable insight to the board as the industry navigates increasing regulatory, governance and risk requirements.”
The appointment comes as Peter Varghese AO announces that he will retire after the 2020 AGM. Mr Varghese joined the board in 2016 and has held non-executive director positions on the boards of AMP Bank and AMP Capital Holdings.
“I would like to thank Peter for his considerable service to AMP over the last three years,” Mr Murray said.
