Alexandra Campbell has taken the role at the $54 billion fund, after working as a key contributor to the investment and management of a $20 billion infrastructure portfolio at AustralianSuper.
Prior to AustralianSuper, Ms Campbell held senior positions including founding principal at boutique advisory firm Avoca Capital Advisors and senior executive and director for listed infrastructure at Hastings Funds Management.
Cbus chief investment officer Kristian Fok described Ms Campbell as a proven leader in the infrastructure sector.
“Alex comes to Cbus with significant runs on the board as an infrastructure leader,” Ms Fok said.
“We are very pleased that she will be devoting her considerable talents to managing infrastructure investments on behalf of our 750,000 members.”
Cbus portfolio head of private markets Grant Harrison commented Ms Campbell would build on the considerable success of the fund’s internalised infrastructure team.
Ms Campbell added she is excited to be joining the fund as it looks to play a part in Australia’s economic recovery.
“Undoubtedly this is a challenging time for markets, but this also gives rise to valuable investment opportunities,” she said.
“I know Cbus is keen to partner with governments and other funds to source unique and innovative investment opportunities and I am excited to be involved.”
Ms Campbell started her career as a solicitor with Herbert Smith Freehills, with a focus on capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.
She has also held a number of board positions, including for NSW Ports, Perth Airport, Northern Territory Airports, Queensland Airports, Port of Geelong and Metro Transport Sydney.
