Future Fund appoints acting CIO

The Future Fund has appointed an acting chief investment officer following the appointment of the current CIO to the position of chief executive.

Sue Brake will commence in the acting role on 1 July 2020 while the organisation commences a global search to appoint a permanent replacement.

Ms Brake has made a valuable contribution to our organisation as deputy chief investment officer, portfolio strategy,” said CEO Raphael Arndt. “As acting chief investment officer, Sue will continue to implement the organisation’s prudent long-term investment strategy, working with the deputy chief [investment officers] to lead the investment team and the management of our portfolios.”

Mr Arndt served in the role of CIO from 2014 until he took up the position of CEO. Ms Brake joined the Future Fund in 2019 and is responsible for economic and capital market analysis, emerging markets, dynamic beta management and portfolio construction.

Ms Brake previously held the role of head of strategic advisory at Willis Towers Watson, and has worked as senior investment strategist at NZ Super Fund. She holds a masters of psychology from Canterbury University as well as bachelor degrees in mathematics, computer science and English literature.
