Maple-Brown Abbott has appointed a new chief operating officer, hiring from Lazard Asset Management to support its ongoing growth.

Melanie McQuire will step into the role, reporting to CEO and managing director Sophia Rahmani. She will be responsible for Maple-Brown Abbott’s operating and technology strategy and platform of the business, as well as overseeing product and platform as its Australian managed investment schemes and institutional and high-net-worth mandates.

“Melanie has outstanding experience in the financial services industry, as a chief operating officer for a global investment firm and equities product manager, as well as her work with separately managed accounts,” Ms Rahmani said.

“She brings wide range of expertise and knowledge to the role, which will be a good fit with the broader Maple-Brown Abbott team as we continue our growth plans both domestically and offshore.”
