Cbus has named three new asset heads across its investment team, set to lead property, private equity and equity portfolio construction.

Former AustralianSuper senior investment director John Longo will soon commence in the role of head of property. He previously had also been a property director at the Future Fund and had past experience in managing listed property securities portfolios at Challenger and HSBC.

Ex-MLC private equity portfolio manager Sege Allaire will also commence in the role of head of private equity from mid-February. Previously, Mr Allaire had held a number of positions with NAB, MLC and McKinsey & Co.

Meanwhile, James Crawford has been appointed as head of equity portfolio construction, after holding senior roles at First Sentier, AllianceBernstein and Wellington. He was also head of investment strategy at IAG Asset Management and a principal/senior consultant at Towers Perrin, as well as head of research and manager of trading at Commonwealth Funds Management.

Cbus chief investment officer Kristian Fok commented the appointments had been made as part of the fund’s ongoing strategy to internalise parts of its investment.

“This provides greater flexibility for the fund to capture attractive investment opportunities while reducing management costs,” Mr Fok said.
