Rest gets new investment strategy head

Rest will appoint new heads for investment strategy and capital markets in an “important milestone” for the industry fund. 

Andrew Thomas has been appointed head of investment strategy and asset allocation, while Sally Cobb has been appointed head of capital markets. Mr Thomas will report to chief investment officer Andrew Lill. 

“Andrew and Sally’s appointments are important milestones as Rest continues to strengthen its management investments expertise and focus on constructing member-focused multi-asset portfolios,” Mr Lill said. 

“Andrew has a great investing history and expertise in asset allocation and portfolio construction, and Sally has a wealth of experience working globally in capital markets. Their experience will be valuable in Rest investments continuing to generate strong long-term returns for our members.”

Mr Thomas’ was most recently head of client portfolio solutions at BlackRock Australia, prior to which he was head of strategy and asset allocation at QBE, where he was employed from 1999 to 2018. Ms Cobb was a consultant at AustralianSuper, prior to which she spent time as a principal at Mercer and a manager for investment services at Russell Investments. 

“These are both new leadership roles in a team managing asset allocation, capital markets, treasury and implementation, responsible investments and product specialists across Sydney and Melbourne offices,” Rest said in a statement.
