BetaShares has appointed one of its co-founders to the role of chief financial officer as it looks to drive further business growth in the wake of a sizeable private equity cash infusion.

Jason Gellert will take on the role of CFO at BetaShares, with responsibility for capital management, accounting and audit functions, and corporate investments. Mr Gellert is a co-founder of BetaShares, which was established over a decade ago.

“Jason has, since our inception, been a key member of the BetaShares management team and we are delighted to see him take on this new role, as we enter the next phase of our development,” said BetaShares chief Alex Vynokur.

Mr Gellert brings “extensive experience” in finance, equity and debt capital markets to the role. Prior to BetaShares he was a member of the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley in both Sydney and New York and has also worked in the investment team at Investec Wentworth Private Equity.

“I am thrilled to accept appointment as BetaShares CFO as we embark on the next exciting stage of the journey and I look forward to continuing to assist the business as it continues to enhance its platform as a leading, independent Australian financial services business,” Mr Gellert said.

Private equity player TA Associates recently bought a substantial stake in the business, which has since announced an expansion into New Zealand.
