Dexus Asset Management has announced the appointment of Jason Weate as fund manager of the Dexus Convenience Retail REIT (DXC).
Mr Weate has over 15 years of experience in the property industry and equity capital markets with roles in investment management, development management, capital partnering, strategy and equities research.
“Jason will bring valuable transferable skills to Dexus Convenience Retail REIT, drawing on his extensive experience within direct property and A-REIT capital markets,” said Dexus Asset Management chair Jennifer Horrigan.
Previously, Mr Weate held multiple senior roles at Stockland including group head of strategy and was vice president of A-REIT equities research at Deutsche Bank.
Dexus Asset Management CEO Darren Steinberg said the firm was looking forward to Mr Weate joining the Dexus Convenience Retail REIT team.
“The convenience retail asset class is one with both defensive characteristics and exciting opportunities, and we remain focused on continuing to leverage Dexus’s platform capabilities to enhance returns for DXC securityholders,” he said.
Mr Weate will commence in the new role on 30 May.
