The company has appointed the next leader of its Australian and New Zealand business internally.

Bloomberg has announced the appointment of Ben Pool to the role of head of Australia and New Zealand.

According to the company, Pool will join the Sydney office from Hong Kong, where he led the firm’s buy-side enterprise relationship management and sales team.

First joining Bloomberg in 2007 in its London office, Pool has held various relationship management and sales roles at the firm and brings extensive experience working with asset managers, insurers, pension funds, hedge funds, and investment banks.

In his new capacity, which Bloomberg clarified he formally commenced in March, Pool reports to head of Asia-Pacific Bing Li.

“Ben brings outstanding global experience to Bloomberg’s Australia and New Zealand operations,” Li said.

“For nearly 20 years, Ben has been working with Bloomberg clients across Asia-Pacific and around the world, helping them find new efficiencies and innovations in their workflows. He is an outstanding addition to our already strong Australia and New Zealand team.”

In a statement, Bloomberg confirmed that Pool will be responsible for consolidating and expanding the firm’s role of providing data and regulatory solutions to market participants across Australia and New Zealand.

Commenting on his appointment, Pool said: “I am delighted to take up the mantle of leading Bloomberg’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. This is one of the world’s most sophisticated financial markets and I’m excited to get to work, supporting our clients as they continue to innovate and grow.”

He succeeds James Bell, who was promoted to Asia-Pacific head of sell-side technology sales last October and has since moved to Singapore for the role.

“I am writing with a mix of gratitude and excitement as I reflect on my incredible journey of the past nine years at Bloomberg in Australia,” Bell said on LinkedIn at the time of his move.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to be part of such a dedicated, talented, and supportive team.

“While I am sad to leave behind the wonderful memories and relationships here, I am also looking forward to the adventures and challenges that lie ahead.”
