The Super Members Council has welcomed a new deputy CEO and a new executive general manager for policy.

The industry body has welcomed new additions to its senior team.

It has appointed Georgia Brumby as its deputy CEO, working alongside CEO Misha Schubert to deliver on its core priorities and business plan.

This is alongside her responsibilities as executive general manager for advocacy, a role she has held since October 2023.

Brumby was previously at Industry Super Australia (ISA) for almost five years prior to its merger with the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) last year.

She has also served in the office of the Premier of Victoria for over four years, most recently as deputy director of media.

“Georgia’s appointment as deputy CEO recognised her leadership role at SMC that advocates for 11 million Australians with super,” Schubert said.

The industry body has also announced the appointment of superannuation lawyer Dr Emily Millane as its new executive general manager for policy.

Well-regarded for her deep expertise in super, Millane brings a wide range of experience across super funds, policy bodies, think tanks, and government to the role.

“We’re excited by this stellar appointment – and the policy skills and leadership Emily will bring to our shared imperative to help 11 million everyday Australians retire in the strongest circumstances,” Schubert said.

Millane holds a PhD in super and has held a number of teaching and research posts at major universities and led policy research in the profit-to-member super sector.

This includes almost three years as a senior fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School, three years as a research fellow at the Australian National University, and a year as senior associate at the Grattan Institute.

She has also worked at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, most recently as a manager for strategy and government relations.
