Goldman Sachs Asset Management spin-off Yarra Capital Management has appointed a senior investment manager within its fixed income team.

Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) senior credit portfolio manager Phil Strano will join Yarra Capital Management as a senior investment manager in the fixed income team in early May 2017.

Mr Strano, who will report to Yarra Capital Management head of Australian fixed income Roy Keenan, spent the past eight years at VFCM managing credit portfolios following a four-year stint at Challenger as a senior analyst.

Before that, Mr Stano worked at NAB as an economist and analyst before moving into the bank's institutional banking team to cover credit.

Yarra Capital Management managing director Dion Hershan said, "Since Yarra Capital Management’s formation in January, we have been looking at a range of opportunities to add to the strength of the investment team, particularly in relation to our fixed income offering where we see significant potential to expand the breadth of our products and strategies."

"We are delighted that an investor with Phil’s experience and track-record has chosen to join Yarra Capital. He is a highly regarded corporate credit specialist and his appointment will add significant weight to the firm’s fixed income and Australian equities capabilities," Mr Hershan said.
