Daniel Reyes, who is currently based in the US, will replace Rodney Comegys as Vanguard's head of investments in Asia-Pacific, with the handover to be completed by October 2017.
Mr Comegys is returning to Vanguard's US headquarters in Malvern, Pennsylvania where he will take up a senior role with the company's investment management group.
Mr Reyes, who is currently the head of advised portfolio solutions in the US, will make the move to Vanguard Australia's Melbourne office later this year.
In addition to taking on the role as head of investments in Asia-Pacific, Mr Reyes will also lead the investment strategy group in the region.
As a result of the appointment, current head of the Asia-Pacific investment strategy group Jeff Johnson has been appointed head of fixed income.
Mr Johnson's change of role coincides with Stephen Howard, the current head of fixed income in Asia-Pacific, departing the business.
