Grant Samuel Funds Management has appointed a new chief executive to replace Andrew McKinnon, who has been named executive chair of the board.

Current director and head of distribution for Grant Samuel Funds Management (GSFM) Damien McIntyre will replace Andrew McKinnon as chief executive, the company announced yesterday.

Mr McKinnon will become executive chair of the GSFM board, replacing outgoing non-executive chair Doug Bartlett (who will remain on the board).

Head of retail Steve Fletcher and head of institutional Charles Levinge will continue to report to Mr McIntyre.

Mr McKinnon, who co-founded the business with Mr McIntyre in 2007, said the restructure is part of a long-term strategic plan for the business.

"As executive chair I remain committed to the business in a day-to-day capacity. My focus on GSFM’s institutional relationships and business strategy will continue," he said.

"This includes continuing to actively seek and evaluate potential fund manager partners for GSFM.

"In his role as CEO, Damien will continue to direct the future success and growth of the GSFM business, while also working with his key relationships across the market."

The changes will be effective on 1 July 2017.
