Masato Degawa has joined the board of Yarra Capital Management as a non-executive director and senior adviser for Japanese assets.
Yarra Capital has continued to build out its board after the business was formed following a management buyout of Goldman Sachs Asset Management in January.
Dion Hershan, the managing director of Yarra Capital, described the Asia-Pacific region, and Japan in particular, as being "extremely important" for the business.
"We couldn’t have hoped for a more qualified candidate to join Yarra Capital Management. Masato’s appointment as a senior adviser to build out our Japanese client offer reflects our strong focus on growing assets in this market," Mr Hershan said.
Mr Degawa was previously president and head of BlackRock Japan. He has also held senior positions with Société Générale Asset Management (Japan) and JP Morgan Asset Management.
