1. Underneath The Tree - Kelly Clarkson

“I got to throw in a couple of Christmas songs as it is that time of year.

“This is such an upbeat song that it cannot help but get you right into the Christmas spirit and forget about the tough year for investors that 2022 was.”

2. All I Want For Christmas is You- Mariah Carey

“This used to be my #1 Christmas song till I discovered Underneath The Tree.

3. Feliz Navidad - José Feliciano

“This is an older song but a really big one for José. I love that it mentions the two – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and is such a cheerful simple song.

4. My Sweet Lord - George Harrison

“Whether you are religious or not, this is such a joyous song and the melding of Hallelujah and Hare Krishna in the chorus highlights to me the overlap between many religions.

5. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley

“This is one of my favourite songs of all time, marking Elvis’ comeback after years in Hollywood but always gets a few plays in holidays. I guess we also need to be a bit suspicious of some investment market developments.

6. All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

“I discovered George’s post-Beatle material on holidays so they remind me of him.

“This song is rather reflective but then the passing from one year to the next can be just that. And it reminds us that all things must pass — despite whatever is going on in economies and investment markets.”

7. Things Can Only Get Better - D:Ream

“I like upbeat songs and this certainly fits the bill. Always good to hum after a big market falls when ‘things get so bad they are good’.”

8. Cold Heart - Elton John and Dua Lipa

“Some may see this as a lockdown song as that’s when it came out, but it is a brilliant reworking of Elton’s older songs and took me a while to work it all out.

“But it’s excellent in combining old and new. A bit like the last year in economies and markets took us back to the 1970s in some ways.

9. Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves

“This is a classic upbeat holiday-type song. When investing, it usually pays, in the long run, to be upbeat.

10. Shake it Off - Taylor Swift

“Because that is sometimes what we have to do.
