The AMP Horizons Financial Planning Academy will launch a new four to six week program for experienced financial planners who want to establish their own AMP Financial Planning practice in 2010.
The new program, which is an extension of the AMP Horizons Financial Planning Academy established in 2007, is a way for professionals to fast track their careers in financial planning.
AMP Horizons managing director Tim Steele said the new program will specifically target and recruit industry candidates with one to five years experience in financial planning, with the first intake of planners to begin in January.
Steele said candidates would have the option of four weeks of training followed by time in a Horizons practice to further develop their skills and experience, or six weeks of training for those who wanted to establish their practice immediately.
Candidates would also be provided with intensive support from regional specialists and academy managers as well as unique financing options, where they would be able to access finance through AMP or lease access to clients, Steele said.
He added that the group planned to recruit up to 16 candidates for the first intake and that in the last 18 months, 32 practices had been established by graduates of the original AMP Horizons Financial Planning Academy program targeted at people wanting to change careers.
Steele said that AMP expected places in the new practice start-up program for experienced planners to be highly sought after, with the program likely to be expanded.
AMP Horizons Financial Planning Academy launched its fifth Horizons practice in Brisbane recently and from 2010 will cut the original 12-week program for career changers to 11 weeks, with more pre-work required, Steele said.
