"The policy agenda for 2010 remains challenging. Dante is well equipped to lead the FPA through the implementation of the PJC (Parliamentary Joint Committee) recommendations, along with responses to the Henry and Cooper reviews," FPA chief executive Jo-Anne Bloch said.
De Gori brought with him a wealth of technical expertise and a deep understanding of financial planning and the FPA, Bloch said.
"Dante is well known to the financial planning community for his sound strategic advice, clear and plain English presentations, and his ability to address the legislative environment positively," she said.
"Dante will also ensure that our relationships with key stakeholders remain constructive and productive."
De Gori has participated in numerous FPA committees, most recently as chair of the association's technical committee.
He was Clearview technical services manager from 2007.
Clearview Retirement Solutions head of product and dealership support Michael Abbott will take on some of the responsibilities of the technical services manager role following the departure of De Gori.
Abbott would look after the role in the short term until a permanent replacement was found, a Clearview spokesperson said.
Clearview valued highly the role technical services played in supporting clients and advisers and the group expected to look at a number of options for how the role was filled in longer term, the spokesperson said.
