ING New Zealand has appointed Australian risk specialist Helen Troup as its new chief executive.
Troup has held senior roles with ING Australia since 2001 and from 2004 led its life risk business as executive director.
Under Troup's leadership, ING life risk has achieved significant revenue and profit growth and ING Australia's market share has grown across all segments, with retail sales moving from sixth to first place in the past two years.
"In the past four years Helen and her team have successfully launched the market leading OneCare product, and significantly improved life risk's customer service offering, culminating in group risk being voted number one for service in 2007 by NMG [an international financial consulting group]." ING Asia Pacific regional chief executive Paul Bedbrook said
"Her proven ability to achieve strong profit and growth results over the past four years is underlined by the fact that ING Australia's in-force premium market share in retail sales risk has increased from number six to number one under her stewardship.
"The combination of Helen's skills and leadership, together with the knowledge and experience of the local management team in New Zealand, are a powerful formula to lead ING New Zealand through its next growth phase."
Troup is the first Australian to be appointed to the role of ING New Zealand chief executive. She will start her new job on July 11, replacing outgoing chief executive Marc Lieberman.
