NAB Financial Planning has a new boss.

National Australia Bank (NAB) has promoted Geoff Rogers to general manager of NAB Financial Planning, replacing former head Adrian Hondros who is now running NAB's private bank.

Rogers had previously run the retail operations of NAB Financial Planning, the bank's in-house advice channel.

In the new job, which he starts on 16 July, Rogers will oversee 465 advisers.

He will report to NAB Business Banking regional general manager Geoff Greer and join the senior management team of the bank's wealth management business MLC.

"Geoff's experience in building strong wealth management businesses will put him in good stead to lead NAB Financial Planning as the business continues its journey of strong growth and development," Greer said.

Rogers has worked for MLC for around 16 years.

He headed up the wealth management operations at Bank of New Zealand and established and operated start-up life insurance and funds management businesses in Asia.

His previous job is currently vacant.

In May, Hondros replaced former private bank chief Carl Harman, who was made general manager of NAB Business for Victoria and Tasmania, replacing Greer.

The bank attributed improved adviser productivity, particularly in NAB Financial Planning, to a 12.2 per cent increase in MLC's net income for the half year to March 31 2007.

MLC has $104 billion in current funds under management.
