Regnan expands governance research and engagement team from five to six.

Consultancy firm Regnan has appointed governance expert Pru Bennett to head the Regnan governance research and engagement team.

"The board welcomes Ms Bennett to Regnan's team of committed professionals in the expectation of accelerating our delivery of Australia's leading ESG [environmental and social governance] insight and advocacy," Regnan chair Peter Lunt said.

Managing director Erik Mather said the newly-created position takes the team from five to six staff members.

"Bennett's appointment demonstrates our commitment to be a proactive advocate of improved governance practice," Mather said.

Bennett brings with her professional governance expertise and knowledge following twelve years at proxy-voting agency CGI Glass Lewis, where she was a director and analyst.

According to Mather, Bennett has the longest track record of working in the corporate governance arena, and also has significant accounting and investor relations expertise.

Bennett will greatly contribute to Regnan's efforts in executing its ESG research and engagement mandates on behalf of its many clients, Mather said.

Bennett will join Regnan on 2 March 2009 and will be based in the company's Sydney office.

Regnan currently provides ESG research services to four leading investment managers that invest more than $25 billion across ASX-listed companies.

Regnan's ESG research is exclusively distributed by stockbroking and research provider Goldman Sachs JBWere.
