State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Frank Henze to the newly created position of head of exchange-traded funds (ETF) for the Asia Pacific.
Based in Hong Kong, Henze will oversee SSgA's regional ETF expansion strategy, with a focus on increasing the size and visibility of SSgA's range of SPDR ETFs in the Asia Pacific.
He will report to head of SSgA's business in the Asia Pacific, Bernard Reilly, and senior managing director and global head of exchange-traded funds at SSgA James Ross.
"Frank's addition to the growing ETF team in the region is a significant sign of our dedication to expanding this business," Reilly said.
"His vast experience in strategic planning and product development will drive the expansion of our ETF team as well as our SPDR product footprint in the Asia Pacific, and we're excited to have him on board."
Meanwhile, Ross said as the pioneer of ETFs in the Asia Pacific, SSgA was committed to meeting investor needs with the addition of high-quality SPDR products.
"It is our goal to match State Street's tremendous distribution footprint in Asia with tailored SPDR ETF service and support," Ross said.
Henze joins SSgA from HSBC where he was responsible for global ETF product development.
Prior to this, he spent five years with iShares in Europe where he last served as European head of product development.
SSgA introduced ETFs in the Asia Pacific in 1999 and today has 12 ETFs listed across four Asia Pacific markets: Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and Singapore.
