Hewett's appointment stems from St George's growing private banking base.

David Hewett has been named as the new general manager of St George's Private Bank.

Hewett was previously the state director for ANZ's New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory private bank businesses.

His appointment is a key part of the group's commitment to expanding its successful private banking operations, group executive for wealth management Geoff Lloyd said.

"As the new head of Private Bank, David will drive the accelerated growth of the business and will deliver strategic advice on wealth creation and debt for the bank's growing private banking client base."
