Diversified investment strategy performs well despite volatility

Hillross Financial Services has announced that its Experts' Choice Funds range has grown to more than $1 billion in funds under management (FUM) despite tough market conditions.

The Experts' Choice fund range uses a blend of investment strategies which aim to perform well in most market conditions.

"The ability to structure strong portfolios delivering solid returns for clients has made Experts' Choice a popular choice with advisers, and we expect that to continue over the coming year," Hillross managing director Hugh Humphrey told InvestorDaily.

"While the funds have a primary focus on maximising longer-term return outcomes, the portfolio construction approach also has a strong focus on capital preservation."

The Experts' Choice range was launched in 1996 and has grown from $500 million at the end of 2008.

Its flagship Balanced Fund has outperformed its benchmark over one, three, five, 10 and 15-year periods, despite recent unstable market conditions.

Hillross said the company was pleased with the fund's most recent growth over a period that has included wide-spanning volatility and the global financial crisis.

"Despite the volatility, efficient portfolio construction has delivered clients reduced risk and more consistent returns," Mr Humphrey said.

"Hillross is pleased we've been able to secure over $1 billion in funds under management and that's due to the strong performance of the funds over a number of years, especially during a challenging period for markets."
