Ballast has hired Kevin Frost as manager of strategic partnerships.

Financial planning group Ballast is in discussions with a number of firms with the view to expand its existing advice network.

The Western Australia-based group was looking to make acquisitions or partner with other financial services firms, Ballast general manager Frank Paratore said.

"We can definitely confirm that we are looking," Paratore told InvestorDaily.

"There are some conversations but I can't say too much more."

In line with the company's expansion plans, Ballast yesterday announced it had appointed Kevin Frost as manager of strategic partnerships.

In the role, Frost will identify partnerships that Ballast can leverage its business from.

"He is currently working on one major partnership with an announcement anticipated in the upcoming weeks," Paratore said.

Frost has 13 years' management experience in the mortgage industry.

He has held management positions with Aussie Home Loans, Suncorp and eChoice Aggregation.
