Puli has been chief financial officer of the $16-billion fund since 2009, and was appointed acting chief executive in June last year after the resignation of Michael Dundon, who now heads up VicSuper.

"Mark brings to the CEO position proven skills and abilities along with personal qualities that enable ESSSuper to face the challenges of the changing superannuation industry with confidence," ESSSuper president Frank King said.
ESSSuper also appointed John Simpson as a government nominee to the board. Simpson is managing director of John P Simpson and Associates.
