Sometimes you have to wonder how in touch the FPA head honchos are with the membership.

Sometimes you have to wonder how in touch the FPA head honchos are with the membership.

EyeFA for one would like to know who was consulted about the timing for this year's annual conference, being held in Melbourne this week. Obviously those responsible for the timing aren't sports fans.

While some will be sitting through what eyeFA is sure will be riveting discussions on the merits and strategies of sound financial planning, most true-blue Aussies will be transfixed by undoubtedly the biggest sporting event of the year, perhaps the millennium
- Australia's quest to win back the Ashes.

EyeFA will be interested to see, come Thursday morning, how many planners will be attending conference sessions as the first ball is about to be bowled at the Gabba.

We're sure the FPA, once realising the injustice of such a scheduling travesty, will have made arrangements to provide live sites around the convention centre so the faithful can watch the battle commence.

If this piece contains any trace of bitterness, well it's because eyeFA had tickets for this keenest of sporting clashes but had to give them up to attend the second biggest event of the week.

The things we do to keep you lot informed.
