While millions of people around the world were watching the big boys going round in circles in their turbo-powered monsters at the ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne recently, one lucky ING staffer managed to get in on the act.

ING Australia's Scott Brayshaw was lucky enough to win the ING Australia charitable foundation's auction to take part in the 175cc go-kart event at the Grand Prix, with the money raised going to the Chances for Children program. Brayshaw managed a very creditable third place, 0.4 seconds behind the winner.

"It was really awesome. I enjoyed every moment. We got to wear all the racing gear and even go on the winners' podium, hear our national anthems and of course spray champagne on each other," he says.

Clocking lap times of around 4 minutes 30 seconds, Brayshaw still has a fair way to go to catch the F1 drivers, who manage around 1 minute 30 seconds. The ING Renault team weren't quite as successful in the big one, with Giancarlo Fisichella finishing 5th and Heikki Kovalainen coming 10th, while the race was won by Kimi Raikkonen in a Ferrari.
