Perpetual has exceeded the $1 billion mark with its charitable trust, a day after aligning itself with AMP on a new online charity resource for advisers.
The growth of Perpetual's charitable trust business comes as little surprise to the fund manager whose latest survey showed there was a trend among Australia's business leaders to give more to charities, both personally and in business.
The Perpetual Business Leaders Survey 2007 found 23 per cent of individuals and businesses made a larger donation last year than in the previous year, 22 per cent of individuals planned to give even more next year with 17 per cent of businesses planning on increasing their donations in the year ahead.
Perpetual also joined AMP Capital Investors as sponsors for the gateway for giving online resource for charitable planning.
Social Ventures Australia and Makinson d'Apice Lawyers are also founding sponsors of the new service.
The new online service equips advisers with everything they need to manage their clients' giving strategies, including online accredited training in philanthropy.
Perpetual has been a trustee for 121 years and manages 450 charitable trusts.
Last year Perpetual distributed more than $40 million to a range of charities across Australia.
