Challenger continues to revamp its financial services division with the group now focusing on its platform business, Synergy Capital Management.

In line with its new business model, Challenger has hired Mark Ballinger as head of information technology services for its financial planning division.

Challenger's financial planning division, including Genesys Wealth Advisers and Synergy Capital Management, recently underwent an overhaul of its service offering and fees.

In his new role, Ballinger will work on developing and implementing improved member firm systems, internal business systems and IT systems for Challenger Financial Services' platform business, Synergy Capital Management.

"Under the new business model, we need to ensure we have sufficient IT capability to support our strategy and ensure we deliver on the Genesys value proposition," Genesys' chief operating officer Andrew Alcock said.
