Financial services group Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees (TPT) has been nominated alongside big hitters ANZ and National Australia Bank (NAB) for this year's Australian Sustainability Award.
TPT managing director Mark Scanlon said that his group's nomination follows the company's success in being ranked number one in the 2006 Horwath Australia Mid-Cap Corporate Governance Report.
"As a funds manager with $1.3 billion under management, TPT takes its ethical and corporate governance responsibilities extremely seriously and it is rewarding to see that our efforts are being recognised by the broader investment community," Scanlon said.
The nomination comes two weeks after the listed group announced it had acquired the Launceston-based Norman and Kathryn Collings Financial Services, which has $55 million in funds under advice.
Other companies nominated for the 2007 Sustainability Award include Toll Holdings, Brambles, ANZ, and NAB.
The awards recognise Australian companies for outstanding achievement in a range of areas of corporate sustainability in 2007. They are presented by Ethical Investor magazine.
Award winners will be announced in Melbourne on 30 November.
