AMP has donated $100,000 to the newly launched financial planning foundation, Future 2.
The donation was announced late last week at the FPA National Conference and marks the first for the foundation.
Future2 trustee Corinna Dieters said AMP's donation comes after the foundation's soft launch earlier this year.
"At the time of the soft launch we communicated with groups, large and small," Dieters said.
"We had discussions with a number of large groups about what we were doing and it's great that AMP has decided to [make a donation]."
News of the donation follows the hire of former BT Funds Management Terry Power as Future2's chair.
"Future2 trustees believe that Terry Power has skills, experience and contacts that will prove to be invaluable as we build the framework and funding for our new foundation", Dieters said.
Power is currently non executive chairman of listed financial planning and accounting firm, WHK Group.
Future2 was officially launched on Friday with the announcement of a partnering agreement with community based youth foundation, Whitelion, and two grants of $10,000 each to grassroots charities in Queensland and Victoria.
The foundation was established earlier this year.
