Financial services industry boosts funding of charitable group Future2.

Financial planning charitable foundation Future2 has been given a funding boost with further donations pushing the group's opening balance to $137,000.

The latest donation of $37,000 was raised during last month's FPA National Conference. It joins the major donation from AMP of $100,000.

"As a founding donor to Future2, AMP has expressed confidence in the financial planning profession's new foundation and - more importantly - the promise we offer of help for disadvantaged Australians," Future2 trustee Corinna Dieters said.

"2008 is certain to be a busy year. We look forward to the leadership which Terry Power will bring as the Future2 chair, to seeing our first funded projects develop their work with young people and to the development of our new partnership with Whitelion."

The amount raised during the conference includes other donations from FPA members, including Commonwealth Financial Planning and Financial Wisdom.

A silent auction held at the SydneyLive gala dinner on November 30 raised in excess of $26,000. Auction items were donated by FPA members, including Apogee Financial Planning, Asgard, Colonial First State, Genesys Wealth Advisers, Godfrey Pembroke and Magnitude Financial Planning.

Future2 was officially launched last month with the announcement of a partnering agreement with community-based youth foundation Whitelion and two grants of $10,000 each to grassroots charities in Queensland and Victoria.

The foundation was established earlier this year.
