Westpac is searching for a new general manager advice to replace Sally Herman who has moved on internally to another role.

BT Financial Group and Westpac are on the hunt for a new general manager advice as a result of Sally Herman being permanently appointed to the role of general manager sustainability, brand and communications.

Sean Allen has been acting general manager advice in Herman's absence which began in February when she was originally seconded to fill her new position.

BT Financial Group general manager advice is a role that oversees all of the financial planning arms within the group including Westpac Financial Planning, and Magnitude.

The group is now assessing both internal and external candidates to potential fill the head of advice role on a permanent basis.

In her new job Herman will be responsible for bringing brand, communications, government, media and corporate sustainability function together for the bank.

She replaces Noel Purcell who was performing a similar duty previously.

"Sally brings to the role extensive experience in financial services and a deep knowledge of Westpac. She has worked across Westpac including roles as diverse as Chief Manager Corporate Banking, Senior Vice President Americas, Head of Private Bank, General Manager eBusiness and General Manager Products and Payments," Westpac chief executive Gail Kelly said.

Herman's appointment would also enable the bank to take its sustainability focus to the next level by combining the area with stakehold communications and brand development, according to Kelly.
