Funds trading under the Merrill Lynch Investment Managers banner will now operate under the BlackRock name.

All Merrill Lynch Investment Managers products traded globally are to be rebranded under the BlackRock name.

Merrill Lynch Investment Managers was merged with BlackRock back in October 2006 but a total rebranding of the fund manager's products was delayed until the BlackRock name had better recognition in the market.

The organisation now feels the BlackRock name is sufficiently well established to be able to be used on all of the groups fund management products.

As a result from today onwards all funds will be renamed to carry the BlackRock brand as will all supporting materials, communications and advertising.

Similarly the names Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Merrill Lynch, or BlackRock Merrill Lynch will all be replaced by BlackRock for any funds included on platforms or any other investment menus.

BlackRock has recommended that platform and model portfolio providers revise their product disclosure statements to reflect the change.

BlackRock employs over 5,500 staff around the world and has total assets under management of US$1.32 trillion.
