Former ANZ advice chief Mike Goodall is set to take on a business development role, based in Asia.

Inpro Australia managing director Mike Goodall is set to depart the company after accepting an offshore post with Sun Life Financial Asia (SLF Asia).

Goodall joins the financial services firm in its Hong Kong office as vice president of regional business development and bancassurance, effective October 6.

"I will be responsible for developing new distribution channels in the region, with a strong focus on the IFA [independent financial adviser] and bancassurance channels," Goodall said.

Working closely with Asian leaders, he will be helping to develop and execute strategies for expanding SLF Asia's business.

Goodall will be responsible for channel development in India, Indonesia, The Philippines, Hong Kong and China.

While SLF Asia's offer to Goodall was unsolicited, he found the opportunities in Asia very attractive.

"The ability for me to use my IFA and bancassurance experience from Australia was just too good an opportunity to pass up," he said.

Following a joint venture with a general insurance provider, Goodall set up Inpro Australia in 2003, and his replacement is yet to be confirmed.

In the interim, Inpro Australia will be managed by the existing management team, and its joint venture with Horsell International will continue.

Prior to his role with Inpro Australia, Goodall was ANZ general manager of financial planning.

Sun Life Financial has operations in North America, Europe and Asia, with its headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
