The private sector super fund boosts its board appointments.

South Australian superannuation fund Statewide has added three people to its board.

Nicholas Begakis has been appointed as chair of the fund. Janet Giles will join the board as a director and Lindsay Oxlad has been promoted to chair of the fund's subsidiary, Statewide Financial Management Services.

Oxlad has been a director of the fund since 2001.

Begakis is also chair of South Australian food company Bellis Fruit Bars. He has worked for 30 years in the manufacturing sector.

Giles works in the executive team of the Australian Council of Trade Unions and is also a member of the Premier's Council for Women.

The appointments provided the organisation and its members with strategic experience and leadership, Statewide chief executive Frances Magill said.

"Mr Begakis and Mr Oxlad have an excellent understanding of this business and the issues facing the industry, while Ms Giles brings leadership and great negotiating skills, which will add another dimension to the board," Magill said.
