Fancy yourself as a bit of an old salt? Want to pit yourself against your peers with superior starting line tactics? Want to go head to head with others in a full on tacking duel?

Well, if you're a member of the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), the chance to do so is looming as the big AFA Foundation MS Sailing Regatta is set to take place in late April.

The regatta will be launched from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club at Pittwater in Sydney and will take place between 2.30pm and 6pm on 29 April.

The event will allow individuals or teams of between three and five people to crew a large yacht against their AFA rivals.

But before any budding Dennis Connors or John Bertrands or Chris Dixons or Russell Coutts start coming out of the woodwork and get too excited, the racing vessels will be commanded by an experienced skipper.

The entry fee is $100 and as the name suggests the regatta will raise money for multiple sclerosis.

So get some zinc on your face, start monitoring your telltales, hoist that spinnaker, and be a part of it.
