Tassin Barnard has resigned as Metlife CEO.

Metlife Insurance is on the hunt for a new chief executive after Tassin Barnard resigned from the position yesterday afternoon.

Barnard is leaving the insurance company to pursue interests outside of the financial services sector.

She has agreed to stay on with Metlife until the end of the year.

Appointed in May 2007, Barnard had been responsible for the US-based insurer's Australian operations.

Prior to her role with Metlife, Barnard was Axa general manager financial protection.
