Suncorp Group Life intends to significantly grow the business and the firm's current stability is a drawcard for new hires, the firm's executive general manager has said.
Suncorp Life executive general manager life risk John Crosswell said the firm is experiencing a period of growth, which includes hiring and pursuing other business opportunities.
In line with its expansion, Suncorp Life has hired former CommInsure executive Michael Black to the newly created role of executive manager group risk.
"We'd like to think we've got some real momentum here at the business and we want that to continue. So getting Michael's market knowledge and experience into the business is a key part of that," Crosswell said.
"The group risk market has been an important growing market for a period of time and we've done some very good work in a sense of serving current clients and strengthening our technical and internal capability.
"Michael's role is about helping and determining how to pursue growth and how to do that in a way that is practical and pragmatic."
Black's new role sits across the existing Suncorp Group Life operations and across the Asteron Group Life operations, Crosswell said.
While Crosswell would not be drawn on any other new hires for the firm, he said the stability of Suncorp Group Life is proving to be "very attractive to high quality candidates".
"That's certainly true. That's across all sorts of spectrums of the business so it's certainly the way it seems for us at the moment," he said.
