Former Treasury secretary Ken Henry has been appointed to the board of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
Dr Henry, who served as the secretary of the Department of Treasury between 2001 and 2011, will take up a position as non-executive director of the ASX at the beginning of next month.
ASX chairman Rick Holliday-Smith said Dr Henry's experience and reputation as an economist would strengthen the board and bring a fresh perspective.
Dr Henry is also a director of National Australia Bank and chairman of the Institute of Public Policy at the Australian National University.
He will stand for election at the ASX's annual general meeting later this year.
