Towers Watson has appointed Jeremy Spira to the Thinking Ahead Group, within the consultancy's investment business.
Mr Spira, who has 20 years' experience in the actuarial, investment and consultant industries, joins from Mercer, where he advised on issues that included investment strategy, asset allocation and funding objectives.
Prior to this, he worked as an actuary in Alexander Forbes' retirement funds division and Southern Life's corporate actuarial department.
Chris Ford, EMEA head of investment, said Mr Spira's knowledge would help the global professional services company deliver new solutions for its clients' portfolios.
"His appointment comes at a time of increasing demand from our clients for innovative thought and new ideas for sustainable, long-term investing," Mr Ford said in a statement.
