Qantas Superannuation has appointed Mercer as the new administrator for its Qantas Superannuation Plan, following a comprehensive review of its service.

Under the new arrangement Mercer will provide the administration and call centre services to the Plan and its members.

"The new arrangement will enable us to continue strengthening the services that we provide to our members" Qantas Super chief executive Jane Perry said.

"It's business as usual as we work through the transition process and we will be sure to communicate any changes to members as soon as possible."

The announcement comes after a review of both Mercer and the Plan's incumbent administrator, Russell Investments, who has worked with Qantas Super's Plan since 2007.

The administrator review was assisted by Rice Warner Actuaries.

"This decision was based on our assessment of 'best fit' administrator for the current and future needs of the Plan," Ms Perry said.

"Mercer will help implement the Plan's initiatives under the Stronger Super reforms."

Mercer managing director and market leader for the Pacific David Anderson said the partnership will be focused on expanding innovation to the benefit of Qantas Super members.

"Qantas Super is one of Australia's preeminent super funds. Their members and the trustee deserve the best quality services in a rapidly changing market environment, now and well into the future," he said.

"Our partnership will include a continuing investment in capabilities and innovation in response to the market changes and needs of Qantas Super members."
