ING's restructured sales and marketing team is ready to take the business into its next phase of growth.

ING Australia has hired Vinnie Wadhera to the newly created job of head of funds management, as part of the group's sales and marketing team restructuring.

Wadhera will be responsible for the group's fund management business development managers.

The team will focus on distribution strategies of ING Australia's investment product suite to the retail market, according to ING executive director of sales and marketing Ross Barnwell.

The recent restructure, which included the hire of five positions to the sales and marketing division, will enable the team to take the business into a stronger phase of growth, Barnwell said.

"We're making sure that we don't execute in a silo-type mentality. Appointing a head of funds management is recognising the importance of that particular part of the proposition," he said.

Wadhera will also manage existing relationship responsibilities of research houses, external platforms and dealer group researchers.

Prior to his promotion, Wadhera spent three years within ING Australia's sales and marketing team. Before joining ING, he was Allianz Global Investors institutional business director.
