Superpartners adds to board

A former politician and super chief join the firm's board as Superpartners begins its $70 million transformation program.

Superpartners has appointed Geoff Ashton, Sandy Grant and Michael Lee to its board as non-executive directors.

The new members join the board as Superpartners embarks on a $70 million transformation programme over the course of 2009, according to Superpartners chairman Alan Beanland.

"Geoff, Sandy and Michael join our board at an exciting time," he said.

"Following a significant recapitalisation of the company, we are embarking on a comprehensive programme to re-tool Superpartners for the continued growth of industry super."

Geoff Ashton brings more than 35 years industry experience to his new appointment. He is also currently chairman of Frontier Investment Consulting.

Sandy Grant's career spans over 40 years in the financial services sector. He currently holds board positions at Members Equity Bank and CareSuper. 

Michael Lee served in federal parliament for 17 years where he held a number of senior positions. He is currently a non-executive director of Country Energy and Macquarie Airports.

The three new members join current board directors Alan Beanland, Nicole Birrell, Kevin Davern, Anne Flanagan and Sue Pelka.

Superpartners is Australia's largest administrator for industry superannuation funds, with around $75 billion of funds under administration for over six million member accounts.
