An ING executive is set to take up the role of chief executive for ING Investment Management Australia.

ING Investment Management Australia has hired Steven Billiet as its new chief executive.

Currently head of ING Funds Tawain, Billiet will move to Australia and will be based in Sydney.

He replaces former ING IM chief executive David McClatchy who has tendered his resignation effective 31 December 2009.

Billiet has an excellent track record with developing asset management businesses, which comes at an important time in the expansion of the ING IM business in Australia, according to ING Investment Management Asia Pacific regional general manager Paul Klug.

"I'm confident that our already strong business will continue to flourish under his leadership," he said.
