Industry fund Hostplus has picked up the special gong of Super Innovator of the Year at the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) annual communications awards held in Melbourne on Friday.
Hostplus won the award for its "One super pledge" campaign, which the judging panel deemed as a well thought through campaign that has captured the attention of its membership with successful results to date.
Meanwhile, three superannuation funds jointly took out the best integrated campaign of the year, with AustralianSuper being recognised for its "Insurance" campaign, BT Financial Group for its "BT Super for Life" campaign and GESB for its "Roll-in to Win" campaign.
The award for excellence in member communications was handed out to four funds, which included AMP for its "Member Benefits Report Program", BT Financial Group for its "BT Super for Life" campaign, Hostplus for its "Missing TFNs Can Cost You" campaign and NGS Super for its "NGS College" campaign.
HESTA came up trumps in the electronic campaign of the year category for its "HESTA Student Nurse Facebook Campaign", which the judging panel believed was a smart campaign that was well targeted, using Facebook to connect with the fund's membership base.
The annual report of the year was jointly awarded to AustSafe and First State Super, while Suncorp Super & Investments won the best public relations category with its "Suncorp Wealthsmart" campaign.
ASFA research suggested that fund members are more engaged than ever with their superannuation, chief executive Pauline Vamos said.
"That is due, in no small part, to the excellence we continue to see in marketing and communications campaigns. These outstanding campaigns set a benchmark," she said.
"I am delighted with the level of industry participation in the awards. This year we've had representation from all sectors of the industry, including many first-time entrants."
